The Nymphomaniac è stato diviso in due parti: la prima riguardante l'età giovanile e l'adolescenza della protagonista, la seconda la sua maturità.
TRAMA
Magnolia Pictures ha annunciato che la pellicola uscirà divisa in due, come ‘deciso’ ed imposto dallo stesso Von Trier. “Nymphomaniac: Part One” sbarcherà nelle sale d’America il 21 marzo del 2014, e sarà disponibile On Demand a partire dal 6 Marzo 2014. “Nymphomaniac : Part Two” uscirà invece il 18 aprile del 2014, per poi presentarsi On Demand a partire dal 3 aprile del 2014.
Entrambi i film dovrebbero durare 2 ore l’uno, per un totale che andrà a superare le 4 ore, limate da Von Trier che aveva inizialmente avallato un montaggio vicino alle 6 ore. Decisamente troppe. Al centro della trama la storia di Joe, interpretata dalla musa del regista Charlotte Gainsbourg, ninfomane picchiata e lasciata morente in un vicolo cieco, fino all’arrivo di un vecchio scapolo, Stellan Skarsgård, che la porterà in casa per aiutarla. Qui, mentre cura le proprie ferite, la donna racconterà la propria vita erotica all’uomo, partendo dalla porno adolescenza. A completare il ricco cast, tra Parte 1 e Parte 2, Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Connie Nielsen, Udo Kier, Jamie Bell, Willem Dafoe, Mia Goth e Jean- Marc Barr.
