Glenview, Ohio – Stati Uniti – Pianeta Terra.
In questa apparente oasi di serenità, Evan, Bob, Franklin e Jamarcus hanno deciso di unire le loro forze per proteggere la comunità. Inoltre, si godono alcuni dei vantaggi di essere dei “guardiani”... come bere birra, fare casino e comportarsi da ragazzacci.
Malgrado le loro nuove ed eleganti giacche da guardiani (o forse proprio a causa di queste!), che sono contrassegnate da ali imponenti e da una testa di tigre (lasciamo perdere...), questi quattro uomini non riescono a ottenere il rispetto dei residenti che dovrebbero proteggere. Un gruppo di ragazzi lancia loro delle uova, mentre i poliziotti locali ritengono che siano una barzelletta. Un po’ come delle giovani marmotte... solo molto meno saggi.
Ma quando la loro pattuglia si imbatte in qualcosa che lascia una scia di roba verde appiccicosa e una sorta di tentacolo, e scopre inoltre uno strano strumento simile a una palla da bowling che sprigiona un raggio di energia, capiscono che il loro gruppetto si è imbattuto in qualcosa di più grande di un semplice malintenzionato...
