La storia ha inizio tanto tempo fa, prima che Ariel incontrasse il principe Eric... La regina Athena, madre della piccola Ariel, viene uccisa e il re Tritone bandisce per sempre la musica dal regno. Ariel cresce così senza amore e senza musica, fino a quando dieci anni dopo scopre per caso un night club clandestino gestito da Sebastian, il buffo granchio amante del raggae. Inizia così per lei una piccola odissea che la vedrà infine combattere con Marina Del Rey, la subdola governante, e le sue terribili anguille.
