Ray Quick è il fratello inurbato e civilizzato (veste sempre Armani) di Rambo. E' un lupo solitario. Ex funzionario Cia, dopo aver fatto esplodere un ponte in Colombia, è disgustato dalla violenta logica di potere delle "agenzie", delle istituzioni e dell'esercito. Vive in un magazzino-loft di Miami e mette la sua competenza tecnica al servizio di May Munro che vuole vendicarsi degli assassini dei suoi genitori. Ammazzati anni prima, da alcuni malavitosi latinoamericani capeggiati dallo straordinario Rod Steiger. I muscoli, con qualche ruga, di Stallone e le gambe e, in particolare, il volto meraviglioso di Sharon Stone sono il valore aggiunto del film. Il corpo a corpo tra i protagonisti atteso dal pubblico arriva, puntuale, sotto una doccia, nella sequenza più "bollente" del film. Esplosioni particolari (la mania di molti film hollywoodiani della stagione), una moderata sensualità patinata, scene svelte e inquadrature calibrate per le star. Il regista peruviano Luis Llosa dirige con l'impersonale sicurezza di un medio artigiano. Stallone e la Stone, sullo schermo, non sembrano però fatti l'uno per l'altra. (Enrico Magrelli)
