TRAMA

In questa animation comedy, un misto di live-action e animazione in Computer Graphic, MacFarlane racconta la storia di John Bennett, un uomo adulto che, in seguito all'esaudirsi di un innocente desiderio infantile, ha portato in vita il suo caro orsacchiotto di peluche. Quasi 30 anni dopo, la favola ha raggiunto livelli inaspettati.
Ted è riluttante a lasciare l'ormai cresciuto John…senza contare l'avversione che prova la paziente fidanzata di John, Lori Collins.
Inoltre la situazione è resa più grave dal vicolo cieco in cui si trova la carriera di John e dal suo trascorrere i giorni fumando erba e bevendo birra insieme a Ted. Quando John capisce di dover affrontare quella cosa chiamata età adulta, sarà proprio l'inaspettato aiuto del suo giocattolo d'infanzia a trasformarlo da uomo bambino a uomo maturo.

RECENSIONE

"Vestito così sembro un cretino". "Non è vero, stai benissimo!".
"John, sembro uno di quei pupazzi che regali al bambino quando gli dici che è morta la nonna". Ebbene sì, qualcuno è riuscito a rendere divertente Mark Wahlberg. Ma non possiamo parlare di Ted senza citare I Griffin, ovviamente... Seth MacFarlane, creatore di entrambi, è un genietto malvagio che ci ha regalato risate amare con la sua famiglia di spostati in tv (una specie di alterna-Simpsons, per capirci); ora scrive, doppia e dirige l'orso parlante meno tenero al mondo.
L'intreccio di base è tutto sommato già visto: un trentacinquenne con la faccia di Wahlberg (e un altissimo coefficiente di bamboccionaggine, che un tempo avremmo più serenamente diagnosticato come sindrome di Peter Pan) deve riuscire ad allontanarsi dal suo migliore amico un po' immaturo per poter affrontare la pacifica convivenza con la sua ragazza. E fin qui. Se il migliore amico immaturo è però l'orsacchiotto che ha preso vita un bel mattino di Natale di quasi trent'anni prima, sconvolgendo lo star system dell'epoca e poi naufragando nell'alcool come molti altri bambini prodigio e baby stelline anni Ottanta, il metaforone ironico si fa già più interessante. Quando poi l'orso in questione guida, trinca e si fa le canne, oltre a riempire il salotto di spogliarelliste appena ci riesce, lo spettatore può anche provare a resistere alla risata di pancia per l'intera durata del film, due orette scarse: quasi sicuramente fallirà.
La CGI che anima Ted è buona e l'illusione spesso efficace (non siamo dalle parti di Garfield, davvero); le trovate sono pecorecce, ma efficaci, e i giochi di parole abbastanza intraducibili. Un gran lavoro, insomma. Ma, avendo un minimo di familiarità con la serialità televisiva più recente, verrà spontaneo al pubblico pensare quasi subito a Wilfred, nei confronti del quale paga un gran debito qualunque interazione tra eterno bambino e pupazzo sboccato. La serie tv australiana, recentemente riproposta nel nostro emisfero dallo stesso irresistibile mattatore, Jason Gann, è un must per chiunque voglia vedere cani di pezza col bong in una mano e l'accendino nell'altra mentre abusano di qualche (altro) peluche. Certo, in quel caso abbiamo tematiche un po' diverse in ballo (la malattia mentale, la paranoia, l'ossessione), ma il succo è sempre lo stesso: un'adolescenza lunga è difficile da sconfiggere.
Ted, nel dubbio, se la prende con tutti: maschi, femmine, minoranze etniche, animali, bimbi grassi, merendine. Ed è talmente liberatorio ridere con lui che l'unico problema in sala sarà capacitarsi di come un maschio sano possa rifiutarsi di convivere con Mila Kunis. Ok, magari di notte russa. Permetteteci di dubitarne.
