Un viaggio a Londra a trovare la nonna, rivelerà a Peter Banning il suo incredibile passato. I suoi figli vengono rapiti dal crudele Capitan Uncino che li porta all'Isolachenonc'è. Un viaggio nella propria perduta memoria, perchè l'affarista Peter Banning non è altro che Peter Pan.
RECENSIONE
Un film piacevole e leggero che bene o male scorre sullo schermo senza troppe difficoltà. Viene però spontaneo chiedersi se il mastro americano delle favole moderne veramente pensasse di realizzare un prodotto così quando si imbarcò nell’impresa di rispolverare il libro di Sir James M. Barrie e contestualizzarlo ai giorni nostri.
Il soggetto e il cast avrebbero dato l’opportunità di scrivere un’ottima pagina della cinematografia internazionale, approfondendo i temi accennati, entrando nella psicologia dell’uomo contemporaneo all’interno di una società così frenetica e priva di felicità. Eppure tutto questo è lasciato in sordina per dar spazio all’azione, al divertimento, ai colori sgargianti e ai paesaggi onirici necessari, forse proprio per una scelta voluta di non appesantire troppo quella che nasce come moderna favola per bambini ma che si sarebbe potuta trasformare in favola universale. La storia rimane bloccata in una sorta di limbo, a metà strada, lasciandoci alla fine solo un sorriso sincero, che non è sicuramente un traguardo minimo né facile oggi come oggi.
Da sottolineare l’ottimo cast nelle figure di Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman e Bob Hoskins (vera gemma nascosta del film), capaci di caratterizzare i personaggi reggendo completamente con la loro mastodontica presenza tutta la pellicola. (Andrea Peresano)
