SI RINGRAZIA PER LA RECENSIONE TRATTA DA
Terzo "ufficiale" adattamento (dopo La signora e il mostro e Donovan's Brain) del fortunato romanzo di Siodmak.
Meno convincente degli altri, il film si risolve in una vicenda giallo-horror (il regista è un habitué della Hammer) penalizzata dalla mancanza del colore.
Tra gli attori si nota il veterano Bernard Lee destinato a conoscere di lì a poco una buona popolorità con i film dell'agente 007 nel ruolo dell'austero personaggio di "M".
Negli Stati Uniti è noto con il titolo The Brain, in Germania Ein Toter Sucht Seiner Moerder..
Il dottor Corrie tenta di soccorrere Martin Holt, un importante uomo d'affari, gravemente ferito, liberandolo dai rottami di un aereo precipitato nelle vicinanze del suo laboratorio.
Nonostante le cure, l'uomo muore e il dottore decide di mettere in pratica quanto ha soltanto in teoria sostenuto da tempo: asporta il cervello della vittima e lo immerge, all'interno di
una teca, in una speciale soluzione chimica riuscendo a mantenerlo in vita. Ben presto il cervello risponde alle sollecitazioni che il medico sperimenta con strumentazioni elettriche e
