Questa versione a 2 dischi di Shine a light è il nono album live dei Rolling Stones.
A partire dai 2 concerti tenuti al Beacon Theatre di New York il 29 ottobre e il 1 novembre del 2006, Martin Scorsese ha realizzato un film documentario uscito nel 2008. Del film è poi uscita la colonna sonora: questo album in 2 CD.
Hanno preso parte al concerto anche Jack White (The White Stripes), Christina Aguilera e Buddy Guy.
