Il castello maledetto è una pellicola americana horror del 1932, diretta da James Whale e interpretata da Boris Karloff, Charles Laughton e Gloria Stuart.
La pellicola venne prodotta un anno dopo la celebre interpretazione di Karloff di Frankenstein, ma a dispetto della presenza di Karloff la pellicola venne ignorata al botteghino, rivelandosi un grosso
insuccesso negli Stati Uniti, mentre fu accolto con grosso favore nel Regno Unito dove il distintivo humour nero del regista Whale venne meglio compreso. Per diversi anni la pellicola venne annoverata tra i
film perduti fino a quando alla fine degli anni '60 non ne riemersero i negativi grazie alle ricerche di Curtis Harrington che li recuperò negli archivi della Universal Studios e ne curò il restauro.
