TRAMA

Lilli é una cagnetta che fugge di casa perchè si sente messa da parte dai padroni dopo la nascita del loro primo figlio. Inizia a girare per la città ed incontra i primi pericoli che supererà anche grazie all'aiuto di Biagio, un cane vagabondo. Quando i due salvano il figlio dei padroni di Lilli, questi per riconoscenza gli accolgono entrambi dentro casa.

RECENSIONE

Si fosse trattato di un lungometraggio live action, con ogni probabilità sarebbero stati non pochi gli interventi della Protezione animali nei confronti della pellicola Disney diretta nel 1955 dal compianto trittico formato da Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson e Hamilton Luske, autori di diversi elaborati di celluloide targati zio Walt.
Fortunatamente, però, è proprio la magia dei cartoni animati a permettere di mostrare in maniera indolore sia violenti scontri con cani rabbiosi e perfino con un ratto, che la piccola femmina di cocker spaniel inglese Lilli chiusa in un pacco regalato per Natale da un uomo alla sua compagna.
Perché è proprio la tematica dell’unione di coppia volta a favorire la nascita della famiglia a dominare in maniera più o meno allegorica la vicenda di cui entra presto a far parte il cane meticcio vagabondo Biagio, il quale finisce per accompagnare la dolce quadrupede nelle diverse avventure intraprese per le strade di una Londra d’inizio XX secolo.
Avventure che includono, tra l’altro, una visita al giardino zoologico, in mezzo a pericolosi coccodrilli, simpatici castori e iene che se la ridono, e una mangiata di spaghetti con polpettine di carne presso il ristorante di Tony e Joe, vecchi e buoni amici del vagabondo.
Senza dimenticare due odiosi gatti siamesi, per un romantico prodotto d’animazione che, trasformatosi presto in classico e seguito nel 2001 da un tassello realizzato da Darrell Rooney e Jeannine Roussel direttamente per il mercato dell’home video, sfrutta una sceneggiatura unicamente basata sulle diverse situazioni atte a tempestare il non troppo tranquillo percorso dei due protagonisti.
Con la risultante di un elaborato capace, di sicuro, di fare la gioia degli amanti degli animali e, in particolare, di quelli che vengono comunemente considerati i migliori amici dell’uomo, ma anche di lasciarci intuire in maniera tranquilla che i suoi autori siano riusciti a fare di meglio; soprattutto con lo splendido "Le avventure di Peter Pan", concepito due anni prima.
