TRAMA

Peter ha appena chiesto alla sua ragazza, Zooey, di sposarlo e già iniziano i preparativi per il matrimonio, ma presto si rende conto che tra i suoi amici non ce n'é uno davvero speciale al quale possa chiedere di fargli da testimone. Pensa così di provare ad uscire con dei ragazzi per vedere se trova delle affinità con qualcuno di loro. Conosce così Sydney, un ragazzo che lo colpisce subito anche per le sue stravaganze. Purtroppo però questa nuova amicizia, finisce per rovinare il suo rapporto con Zooey, così Peter dovrà fare una scelta: la sua ragazza o il suo nuovo amico...

RECENSIONE

Dalle nostre parti, il nome del regista John Hamburg sarà noto a qualcuno soprattutto per "…E alla fine arriva Polly", guardabile commedia datata 2004 che vedeva Ben Stiller, tradito dalla moglie Debra Messing durante la luna di miele, impegnato a instaurare un rapporto sentimentale con la vecchia amica Jennifer Aniston.
Anche "I love you, man", scritto insieme al Larry Levin sceneggiatore de "Il dottor Dolittle" e che include nel cast perfino il regista di "Iron man" Jon Favreau, si costruisce su una coppia di protagonisti: l’agente immobiliare Peter Klaven e lo stravagante Sydney Fife, rispettivamente con i volti di Paul Rudd e Jason Segel, entrambi visti in "Molto incinta".
E, non a caso, sebbene in qualità di produttore esecutivo figuri il nome di Ivan "Ghostbusters" Reitman, è proprio dalle parti dei lavori di Judd Apatow – autore della pellicola riguardante Katherine Heigl alle prese con un’involontaria gravidanza – che sembra trovarsi la vicenda, incentrata sul progressivo rapporto d’amicizia che si sviluppa tra i due dal momento in cui il primo, prossimo al matrimonio ma privo di una conoscenza maschile in grado di fargli da testimone, comincia a frequentare ragazzi per individuarvi delle affinità.
Quindi, con uno stuolo di simpatici personaggi di contorno e un divertente Lou "Hulk" Ferrigno coinvolto nei panni di se stesso, non è certo il tipico citazionismo cinefilo verbale (e non solo) ad essere assente nel corso degli oltre 100 garbati minuti di visione.
Minuti di visione basati in particolar modo, come c’era da aspettarsi, sulle contrastanti figure dei due bravi protagonisti, capaci però di fornire soltanto pochissime memorabili gag e di strappare al massimo qualche sorriso, pur risultando a pieno titolo senza infamia e senza lode.
