TRAMA
In questo nuovo miracolo delle Feste, basato sul famoso film del 1947, una bambina scopre che i sogni possono diventare realtà se vi si crede fermamente. Susan Walker, 6 anni, nutre dei dubbi su uno dei più duraturi miracoli dell’infanzia, Babbo Natale. Sua madre le raccontò il segreto di Babbo Natale molto tempo prima, così Susan non si aspetta di ricevere i regali più importanti della sua lista di Natale. Ma dopo l’incontro ai grandi magazzini con uno speciale Babbo Natale convinto di essere quello reale, Susan riceve il dono più prezioso, qualcosa in cui credere.
RECENSIONE
Dopo che il Babbo Natale ingaggiato per la parata della festa del Ringraziamento dei grandi magazini Cole di New York, si becca una sbronza colossale ed è licenziato, il direttore ingaggia Kris Kringle (Richard Attenborough), un bonario nonnino che sembra la perfetta copia di Santa Claus e che si immedesima così bene nella parte da venire assunto per tutto il periodo delle feste.
Tutti i bambini in città sembrano impazziti per Kringle, tutti loro credono fermamente che lui sia il vero Babbo Natale e l’uomo non fa nulla per deluderne le aspettative calandosi sempre più nel ruolo, ma in città c’è una vocina fuori dal coro che sembra non credergli, è Susan Walker (Mara Wilson) una bambina di sei anni che mette in dubbio non solo che Kringle sia Babbo Natale, ma che il panciuto nonnetto dispensatore di regali sia un’invenzione.
Kringle decide che la bambina va aiutata a credere e propone a Susan di esaudire i suoi desideri, del tipo una casa nuova, un papà e un fratellino, insomma ordinaria amministrazione per qualsiasi Babbo Natale che si rispetti, purtroppo le cose si complicheranno quando Kringle finirà in prigione accusato di aver aggredito un uomo, e il suo processo coinvolgerà stampa e opinione pubblica, tutti a chiedersi ma il nonnino sarà mica Babbo Natale?
Remake del classico del ’47 di George Seaton vincitore di tre premi Oscar, Miracolo nella 34a strada di Les Mayfield gode non solo di un solido predecessore, ma anche di una messinscena aggiornata ad hoc per essere goduta da un pubblico di famiglie in cerca di una moderna fiaba natalizia.
Richard Attenborough è assolutamente perfetto nei panni di un Babbo Natale alle prese con faccende alquanto terrene, il cast è all’altezza del compito così come la regia che rispetta il racconto originale e rimane nei canoni estetici del family-movie senza alcuna sbavatura.
Insomma se cercate un bel film per le feste natalizie, Miracolo nella 34a strada non vi deluderà, sempre che amiate i classici, se cercate qualciosa di meno convenzionale vi suggeriamo di rivolgervi altrove, per tutti gli altri il Natale è servito.
