RECENSIONE
Folle, surreale, stupefacente, questi alcuni degli aggettivi con cui ? possibile definire questo piccolo gioiellino che ? Essere John Malkovich. Si tratta dell'opera prima di Spike Jonze, prima di allora conosciutissimo ed apprezzato regista di videoclip, che si cimenta subito con un film incredibilmente dirompente, semplice nella trama, ma estremamente complesso per la profonda e spietata analisi che fa della psicologia umana. Geniale l'idea del burattinaio che trasla la sua esperienza dal maneggiare bambole di legno, a quella di comandare un vero corpo umano, convinto che, in fin dei conti, si tratti dello stesso tipo di esperienza. Spike Jonze, che abbiamo visto come attore in Three kings, butta nel calderone della trama tutta una serie di argomenti riuscendo a "cucinare" un minestrone particolarmente succulento: omosessualit?, frustrazioni, sudditanza psicologica, ingordigia e mille altre sensazioni e sfaccettature dell'animo umano. Abbiamo usato a ragione la parola "minestrone" perch? molti critici hanno poco apprezzato il film accusandolo di mettere troppa carne al fuoco senza riuscire fornire una vera chiave d'interpretazione dei fatti. Ma ? proprio questo il messaggio di Essere John Malkovich, riuscire con semplicit? a fotografare tante sfaccettature del disagio umano senza per questo ossessionarci ed opprimerci con soluzioni che non potranno che essere valide solo per la persona che sta vivendo in quel momento la storia del film; e poi, se ben cucinato e dosato, aggiungere verdure ad un minestrone non pu? che aumentarne la qualit? e la voglia di divorarlo. Il film ? puntualizzato da numerose scene surreali, come ad esempio l'incredibile settimo piano e mezzo, dal soffitto bassissimo e la scena del ristorante con centinaia di John Malkovich. Da segnalare anche alcuni camei di attori che interpretano il ruolo di se stessi come Sean Penn e Charlie Sheen.
Ottima tutta la pletora degli attori principali, con un John Malkovich decisamente sopra le righe che riesce con istrionica ironia e ridere di se stesso, mettendosi in discussione come uomo e come personaggio, pur nella finzione scenica del film. Ma la pi? bella sorpresa ? probabilmente l'interpretazione del burattinaio offerta da John Cusack che con questo film ? entrato di diritto non solo nella sua piena maturit? artistica, ma anche nell'elite di attori capaci di misurarsi con qualsiasi personaggio. Peccato che sia ancora poco considerato da critica e pubblico, una maggiore attenzione gli offrirebbe la possibilit? di girare sempre film di grande spessore. Essere John Malkovich pu? vantare tre nomination agli Oscar: miglior regia, miglior sceneggiatura e migliore attrice non protagonista dove la bravissima Catherine Keener ? stata battuta dall'astro nascente di Angelina Jolie per la sua interpretazione in Ragazze interrotte. Per concludere non si pu? non citare Cameron Diaz in un ruolo dove comunque non riesce ad emergere pi? di tanto. (Giuliano Boschi)
