This over the top Shaw Brothers Women in Prison film tells the story of a ruthless band of Japanese soldiers and their lesbian Wardress who go up against a group of imprisoned Chinese girls and American nurses. There are numerous cat fights, shower scenes, beatings and jungle chases that make this one a must to see. A Women In Prison film from director Kuei Chih-hung, Bamboo House Of Dolls takes its cues from the entries in this sub genre that came before it but does the 'chicks in chains' thing with a decidedly Hong Kong slant to it. Instead of nasty Nazis, this time around the culprits are the Japanese (a very common antagonist in Chinese cinema of this era), whose soldiers run a concentration camp for Chinese women during the second world war. Most of the WIP cliches are ripe in this film - a group of lecherous and sadistic male captors who are easily outsmarted by the female prisoners; a lesbian officer who isn't afraid to have her way with any of the prisoners, and of course, plenty of beautiful female inmates who are always on the receiving end of some cruel and unusual punishment which usually winds up with them naked and beaten....................

Durante la Seconda Guera Mondiale , un ospedale cinese della Croce Rossa viene assaltato dai Giapponesi che cercano un pilota americano ferito. Per stanare il nemico, fucilano feriti , donne e bambini e , una volta sacrificatosi l'ufficiale americano, deportano le donne in un campo di concetramento (POW) dove le ragazze ( un terzo biondissime svedesi, il resto orientali e sangue misto) vengono usate come confort women per gli ufficiali uomini e donne ivi comandanti.
