I Rhapsody of Fire sono un gruppo musicale power metal italiano, precedentemente conosciuto come Rhapsody, e come Thundercross agli esordi. Fortemente influenzato dalla musica classica barocca, dall'epic metal, dal folk, dal power metal e dal metal sinfonico. Di base la loro musica è ispirata principalmente dalle colonne sonore di film Hollywoodiani come Conan il barbaro e Il Signore degli Anelli, e dalle tematiche fantasy. Per questo motivo il gruppo decise in origine di definire la propria musica come Hollywood metal, e successivamente Film-score metal

Rain of a Thousand Flames è il primo EP della band power metal italiana Rhapsody of Fire, pubblicato il 19 dicembre 2001. Essendo un EP, la tematica di questo album si allontana dal circuto narrativo della storia del "Guerriero di Ghiaccio", concentrandosi su ben altri avvenimenti. Rhymes of a tragic poem - The gothic saga: I guardiani della luce attendono il signore della guerra (Kron), li colpisce una pioggia di fiamme, ed essi rimangono inermi. Inizia la guerra alla fortezza! Intanto la regina degli orizzonti oscuri, brama il potere, ella è alleata di Akron, servitore di Kron, e fu così che aprì le dannate porte dell’eresia… i demoni attraversano le insacre soglie, maghi e Gargoyles pronti ad intervenire in difesa, cavalcano le verdi valli oltre il villaggio di Elnor, ma il nero presagio si avvererà. L’angelo morente incide i nomi di pestilenza sul malefico poema… da quando il terribile Akron possiede la emerald sword, sparge sangue e distruzione! Pronunciate le parole della profezia, la spada attiva il portale per l’inferno, i piani sanguinari di Akron e della regina si stanno compiendo… solo il nostro guerriero può salvare Thorald ed Elnor… i prossimi obiettivi. Il tragico poema è completato, il cielo piove sangue, l’armata demoniaca si muove verso Elnor, pronta ad annientarla. Ormai. la emerald sword incamera sempre più potere oscuro, queste sono le ultime rime del mago, tragica è la sua predizione… le navi dei re sono sotto assedio dalla pioggia di fiamme… anch’esse sottomesse all’ira di Kron… la guerra è forse persa in partenza…

Rain of a Thousand Flames is an album released by Rhapsody in 2001. It tells a part of the Emerald Sword Saga, but it is a parallel episode that is not essential to the story, taking place shortly after Dawn of Victory. While the Warrior of Ice is away, Akron uses the newly acquired Emerald Sword to ravage the land. The album was released at a reduced price and is considered a stop gap between the band's main releases.

Queen of the Dark Horizons is based on the main theme of the horror picture Phenomena, by the Italian 70's prog rock band Goblin.
