TRAMA - PLOT
James Tiberius Kirk è nato tra le stelle ed è cresciuto nell'Iowa, ribelle e ostinato vuole conoscere il nome della bella Uhura, onorare la memoria del padre, servire una causa, esplorare nuovi mondi e arrivare là dove nessun uomo è giunto prima. Spock è nato sul pianeta Vulcano da madre umana e padre vulcaniano, razionale e controllato pratica la disciplina del Kolinahr per purificarsi dalle emozioni, ama con virtuoso trasporto Uhura, domina la sua metà umana e si arruola nella Flotta stellare. È sull'Enterprise, prestigiosa nave spaziale governata dal Capitano Christopher Pike, che i due giovani si incontrano e si scontrano per affrontare un temibile nemico venuto dal futuro. Nero, diabolico Capitano romulano, ha infatti deciso di distruggere tutti i pianeti della Federazione per mettere a tacere il dolore di una perdita incommensurabile. Tra passato, presente e futuro, Kirk e Spock si arrenderanno a una grande amicizia e curveranno lo spaziotempo, salpando verso l'ultima frontiera.
In 2233, the Federation starship USS Kelvin is investigating a lightning storm in space when a Romulan ship, the Narada, emerges from it and attacks. The Narada's captain, Nero (Eric Bana), meets with Captain Robau (Faran Tahir) of the Kelvin aboard the Narada. Robau is killed after professing no knowledge of the Vulcan Ambassador Spock and stating the current stardate. Nero orders the Kelvin's destruction. Acting Captain George Kirk (Chris Hemsworth) orders the ship's personnel evacuated via shuttlecraft, including his pregnant wife, Winona (Jennifer Morrison), who is in labor. Kirk sacrifices himself to steer the Kelvin on a collision course. Winona and George agree to name their newborn son Jim seconds before the ships collide.
Several years later, a young Spock (Jacob Kogan), growing up on the planet Vulcan, is discriminated against for being half-human. As an adult (Zachary Quinto), he declines to join the Vulcan Science Academy, instead joining Starfleet. On Earth, James Kirk (Chris Pine) has become a reckless but intelligent young man. After a bar fight involving Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Kirk meets Captain Christopher Pike (Bruce Greenwood), who challenges him to emulate his father's heroism and join Starfleet.

Star Trek è un film di fantascienza del 2009 diretto da J.J. Abrams. È l'undicesima pellicola della serie cinematografica di Star Trek e quella che ha realizzato maggiori incassi al botteghino. Il film è dedicato alla memoria del creatore della serie, Gene Roddenberry, e di sua moglie Majel Barrett Roddenberry.
Il film è un reboot della serie classica di Star Trek (1966-1969) ed ha per tema le prime avventure dei personaggi della serie. Il riavvio della saga viene giustificato all'interno della storia con l'introduzione di una linea temporale alternativa: un universo parallelo che non modifica il continuum delle precedenti serie.
Il film è stato distribuito in Italia dalla Universal Pictures in data 8 maggio 2009. In alcune programmazioni cinematografiche italiane al titolo è stato aggiunto il sottotitolo "Il futuro ha inizio" (The Future Begins) per sottolineare ancora di più il distacco che Abrams ha preso dalla serie classica.
Il film si è aggiudicato il premio Oscar per la categoria "miglior trucco" ed ha ricevuto altre tre candidature.
Star Trek is a 2009 science fiction film directed by J. J. Abrams, written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It is the eleventh film based on the Star Trek franchise and features the main characters of the original Star Trek television series, portrayed by a new cast. The film follows James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) aboard the USS Enterprise as they combat Nero (Eric Bana), a Romulan from their future who threatens the United Federation of Planets. The story takes place in an alternate reality[6][7] due to time-travel by both Nero and the original Spock (Leonard Nimoy). The alternate timeline was created in an effort to free the film and the franchise from established continuity constraints.
Development of the film began in 2005. Filming took place from November 2007 to March 2008 under intense secrecy. Midway through the shoot, Paramount chose to delay the release date from December 25, 2008 to May 2009, believing the film could reach a wider audience.
Star Trek has earned high critical praise, gaining a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.[8] It is the thirteenth-highest-grossing film of 2009 (the seventh-highest within North America) and has become the highest-grossing film in the Star Trek series; as such, it is credited by the media as a reboot of the series. It was nominated for four Oscars at the 82nd Academy Awards and won the Academy Award for Best Makeup, making it the first Star Trek film to win an Oscar.
