Un gruppetto di sensitivi segue un corso presso il dottor Silver. Tra loro sono Nick - che lavora presso un museo di storia naturale - e Sylvia, la quale è spesso in contatto con uno spiritello (Louise), di cui ha immensa fiducia. Per questo Harry Buscafusco offre un giorno alla ragazza 50.000 dollari, perchè gli ritrovi il figlio inesplicabilmente scomparso sulle montagne dell\'Ecuador. Lei invoglia Nick all\'impresa, date le rispettive qualità e il terzetto parte, ma Buscafusco tanto è simpatico, quanto imbroglione: non c\'è nessun figlio smarritosi o rapito, egli punta solo ad avvalersi della coppia, per mettere le mani sul favoleggiato tesoro che un\'arcaica tribù india ha nascosto, secondo la leggenda, fra picchi inaccessibili. Sulle piste dei tre si sono peraltro posti Ingo (sensitivo anche lui), il dottor Silver e un altro, interessato all\'affare. Dopo varie avventure, Nick scopre la presunta camera dell\'oro: si tratta infatti di una specie di piramide luminosissima, ben nascosta fra le rocce, e più esattamente di una sorgente di energia psichica. Ovviamente, chi la possiede e vi può attingere, riportandone come una scossa elettrica, ha tutto il potere del mondo, da utilizzare secondo il proprio arbitrio.
