The Burning Girls è una miniserie televisiva britannica ideata e scritta da Hans Rosenfeldt e diretta da Charles Martin e Kieron Hawkes, basata sull'omonimo romanzo del 2021 di C. J. Tudor.
Dopo il suicidio del reverendo Fletcher, tocca a Jack Brooks (Samantha Morton) prendere il suo posto come guida spirituale di Chapel Croft, piccolo villaggio nella campagna inglese del Sussex, dove si trasferisce insieme alla figlia adolescente Flo (Ruby Stokes). I fedeli del paese non sanno, però, che la nuova reverenda porta con sé un pesante bagaglio: la morte del marito e un incidente avvenuto nella sua precedente parrocchia, infatti, hanno spinto la donna ad accettare il nuovo lavoro lontano da Nottingham, sperando di poter ricominciare da capo in un posto tranquillo.
Ma anche Chapel Croft ha una storia oscura alle spalle: trent’anni prima, infatti, due studentesse ribelli scomparvero nel nulla senza lasciare traccia mentre, nella chiesa locale, pare che spesso facciano la loro comparsa i fantasmi di due bambine avvolte dalle fiamme, bruciate sul rogo come streghe nel 1556. Jack Brooks dovrà quindi barcamenarsi tra il suo difficile passato, l’accoglienza piuttosto sospettosa degli abitanti del luogo e le sinistre apparizioni che infestano il paese.
