È un remake de L'esperimento del dottor K. del 1958, entrambi tratti dal racconto La mosca (The Fly, 1957) di George Langelaan. La pellicola appartiene al filone del cosiddetto "body horror". È uscito nelle sale statunitensi il 15 agosto 1986; in quelle italiane, dopo l'anteprima nazionale a Milano il 26 novembre dello stesso anno, fu distribuito dall'8 gennaio 1987
It is a remake of Dr. K.'s 1958 experiment, both based on George Langelaan's story The Fly (1957). The film belongs to the vein of the so-called "body horror". It was released in US theaters on August 15, 1986
