Nonesuch Records pubblica le prime registrazioni di Runner (2016) e Music for Ensemble and Orchestra (201 di Steve Reich, eseguite dalla Filarmonica di Los Angeles e diretta da Susanna Mälkki, disponibili in digitale e su CD il 30 settembre 2022; una versione in vinile LP uscirà il 2 dicembre. Reich dice che Runner è scritto “per un grande ensemble di fiati, percussioni, pianoforti e archi. Mentre il tempo rimane più o meno costante, ci sono cinque movimenti, suonati senza pause, che si basano su durate di nota diverse. Prima, anche sedicesimi, poi ottavi con accento irregolare, poi una versione molto rallentata del modello standard della campana del Ghana nei quarti, quarto un ritorno agli ottavi con accento irregolare, e infine un ritorno ai sedicesimi, ma ora suonati come pulsazioni dai venti finché un respiro li sosterrà comodamente.
