La maggior parte dei recensori di questo set di tre dischi ben confezionato, 57 tracce, non può fare a meno di commentare il saggio esagerato di Clinton Walker che inizia con i superlativi, quindi lavora fino a diventare uno strillo. Imposta i consueti e inutili paragoni rock-crit (vuoi più danneggiati dalla strada dei Beatles. Quindi?) Per far avanzare la tesi che i Velvets fossero la band più importante di sempre nel rock – forse anche, come, nel cosmo. È roba isterica per la maggior parte (anche se si livella in un saggio perspicace dopo che ha esaurito l'iperbole e lo sbuffo) e sarebbe istericamente divertente se non fosse quasi vero.
