Giunto a Napoli in cerca di lavoro, Libero Sbardellone viene coinvolto, suo malgrado, nell'attività truffaldina dello zio della moglie, il barone Gaetano Gargiulo. Dopo essere finiti più volte in carcere per furti di modesta entità, Libero e Gaetano decidono di mettere in atto un grosso colpo che dovrà assicurare loro un tranquillo avvenire: il furto ad una ricevitoria del lotto, in occasione di un evento eccezionale, capace di moltiplicare il numero delle scommesse.
Arriving in Naples in search of work, Libero Sbardellone is involved, despite himself, in the fraudulent activity of his wife's uncle, the baron Gaetano Gargiulo. After having been jailed several times for modest thefts, Libero and Gaetano decide to carry out a big blow that will have to assure them of a quiet future: the theft from a lottery office, on the occasion of an exceptional event, capable of multiplying the number of bets.
