Trama:
Il bandito Tuco Ramírez, braccato dai cacciatori di taglie per omicidio, è catturato da uno di essi e consegnato alla giustizia. Durante l'esecuzione della condanna a morte, lo sconosciuto e cacciatore di taglie che lo aveva catturato riappare armato di fucile, spara e recide il cappio che stringe il collo di Tuco, liberandolo. I due uomini si erano accordati per intascare la taglia e dividere in parti uguali.
Un terzo uomo ha assistito alla beffa delle impiccagioni fallite: è il sicario Sentenza, che viene a sapere di una misteriosa cassa piena di dollari confederati nascosta da un certo Carson. Si metterà quindi alla sua ricerca.
