Il serpente e l'arcobaleno (The Serpent and the Rainbow) è un film del 1988 diretto da Wes Craven.

Dennis Allan è un giovane antropologo dell'università di Harvard che si reca ad Haiti per verificare le voci relative al fenomeno dei morti viventi.

Qui conosce Marielle Duchamp, una psichiatra che, pur essendo legata alla sua gente con tutte le superstizioni e i riti del voodoo, si mostra subito ben disposta ad aiutarlo nelle sue ricerche per rintracciare Christophe, un maestro di scuola, che è stato reso zombie da un malvagio stregone.

Dennis, che rimane sempre più affascinato da quel mondo misterioso e insidioso, è deciso a conoscere fino in fondo la verità nonostante sia ossessionato da orribili visioni. Egli è infatti stato preso di mira dal capitano Dargent Peytraud, stregone dedito alla magia nera nonché capo della polizia segreta di François Duvalier il dittatore di Haiti...
