La famiglia Day è stata massacrata ormai molti anni fa. Per quel crimine la sorella più piccola è stata il testimone fondamentale utile a condannare il fratello maggiore. Dopo diversi decenni la non più piccola Libby è una donna mai realizzata, che per molto tempo ha vissuto con i soldi che elemosinava al paese, chiedendo pubblicamente donazioni in quanto "orfana", e che ormai stanno finendo. Un gruppo di appassionati di casi di cronaca irrisolti la contatta e si offre di corrisponderle un compenso per sottoporsi ad alcune domande. La cattiveria con cui si ritrova accusata da loro di aver incastrato il fratello smuove qualcosa nel suo animo cinico e lentamente la porta a voler approfondire cosa accade, sempre più consapevole di aver accusato qualcuno senza realmente essersi resa conto degli eventi.
