Un nuovo e intricato caso impegna l'investigatore Hercule Poirot: sul prestigioso e leggendario convoglio Parigi-Istanbul, frequentato da una serie di personaggi quanto mai svariati e compositi, si scopre un cadavere. E sono davvero in molti ad avere dei buoni motivi per rallegrarsene, il che non aiuta certo il puntiglioso segugio belga a far luce sulla vicenda...
Ambientato fra le carrozze del vero Orient Express, un canonico adattamento delle atmosfere care all'ineffabile Agatha Christie. Nulla più di ciò che ci si potrebbe aspettare, ma in fondo il piacere sta proprio lì. Oscar come miglior attrice non protagonista a Ingrid Bergman.
