Trama
Laura, protetta da uno scrittore di successo, è entrata a far parte del gran mondo.
Quando si innamora di un playboy da quattro soldi, la gelosia del suo pigmalione è immensa.
Viene ritrovato il corpo di una donna con il volto sfigurato: è Laura?
Il poliziotto che indaga si innamora a sua volta della defunta, soltanto guardandone il ritratto. Improvvisamente Laura ricompare…
Capolavoro assoluto del film noir, sotto la sua suprema eleganza fa scorrere il fuoco della passione più inconfessabile, che solo i fantasmi possono suscitare.
