Fra il 2005 ed il 2015 il Regno Unito e gran parte del resto del mondo hanno attraversato una fase bellica ed un periodo socio-politico instabile, con proteste civili che sfociavano spesso in guerriglie urbane. Nel 2015 un partito nazionalista, è riuscito a ottenere un largo consenso, utilizzando la paura come catalizzatore, organizzando attentati biologici (attribuiti a sedicenti "terroristi" , vincendo le elezioni politiche con successo; Adam Sutler si è fatto nominare Alto Cancelliere, instaurando un regime dittatoriale e totalitario, che perseguita gli oppositori politici e le minoranze (musulmani, ebrei, neri, omosessuali, ecc.).
Tells the story of Evey Hammond and her unlikely but instrumental part in bringing down the fascist government that has taken control of a futuristic Great Britain. Saved from a life-and-death situation by a man in a Guy Fawkes mask who calls himself V, she learns a general summary of V's past and, after a time, decides to help him bring down those who committed the atrocities that led to Britain being in the shape that it is in........................
