Trama
Per motivi poco chiari i morti insepolti tornano in vita con impulsi cannibaleschi. Ogni persona ammazzata si trasforma in uno di loro. Sette persone cercano di resistere, barricandosi in una casa abbandonata. ? il cult movie di basso costo che segn? una svolta nel cinema dell'orrore, portato da Romero fuori dagli studios, dalle convenzioni, dal ghetto. ? un film pessimista che visualizza la fine del mito americano: ? un nero a gestire la resistenza degli assediati dagli zombi, protagonista impensabile nel 1968 in un sistema di cinema commerciale, cio? consensuale. Ebbe seguiti, remake e innumerevoli imitazioni. Costato poco pi? di 100000 dollari, ne incass? pi? di 5 milioni.
