Trama
Una bizzosa ereditiera si è innamorata di un affascinante aviatore, bellimbusto e vanesio nonché discreto parassita. Il padre di lei osteggia il sentimento, ma la giovane non sente ragioni e scappa per raggiungere il suo amato. Un giornalista la tallona ma, invece di mettere a segno uno scoop, finisce con l'innamorarsi, ricambiato, della sua "preda".
Dal principe della commedia, con un tris di attori maiuscoli. Uno dei capolavori del genere, modello per molti altri film americani e non.
Conflitti di genere, di classe, lo sfondo della Grande Depressione e il mito della ricerca della felicità.
Cinque Oscar: miglior film, regia, attore protagonista (Gable), attrice protagonista (la Colbert) e sceneggiatura (Robert Riskin).
