Trama
Dave Gordon, un pugile fallito, conosce Gloria che subisce le violenze di Raphael, proprietario del locale dove si esibisce come ballerina. I due si innamorano e vorrebbero partire insieme, ma Raphael fa rapire lei e ordina di ammazzare lui. L'ex pugile si salva per caso, ma finisce ricercato per l'omicidio della persona rimasta ucciso al posto suo. Dave individua la prigione di Gloria.
Noir interessante, soprattutto per l'impianto formale. È il secondo lungometraggio di Kubrick che firma anche soggetto, sceneggiatura, fotografia. Strepitoso il finale, con la corsa sui tetti e il duello tra i manichini.
