Trama
"Si può proprio dire che era un pallone gonfiato."
La Dark Star - nave spaziale con il compito di distruggere le stelle e i pianeti instabili, evidentemente astri di un altro sistema solare - annovera un equipaggio piuttosto particolare: i membri infatti sembrano degli schizofrenici che si prendono cura di una creatura aliena in maniera quasi morbosa, discorrono su temi che passano dalla morte al campionato di baseball con il loro capitano ormai morto e si divertono a praticare surf a gravità minima.
Esordio alla regia di John Carpenter (La Cosa, 1997 Fuga da New York, Essi Vivono, Il Signore del Male…).
Il film riprende molti elementi del celebre 2001: Odissea nello spazio di Stanley Kubrick, in senso surreale e parodistico.
