La comedy segue la star di The Office Steve Carell e Charly Clive (Progetto Lazarus) nei panni di un padre e una figlia alle prese con la loro relazione complicata.
Greg Russo, un autore di romanzi di grande successo, si reca al college per sostenere sua figlia, Katie, che lavora come docente e sta attraversando un periodo difficile a livello personale e professionale.
