📖 TRAMA 📖

Jim Douglas è un pilota in declino, ridottosi a competere nei demolition derby. Vive in
una vecchia stazione dei pompieri, assieme al suo amico Tennessee Steinmetz: quest'ultimo
è un ottimo meccanico, che ha appreso le virtù del Buddismo dai monaci del Tibet. Jim
distrugge la propria macchina in una gara. Tennesse ha trasformato la sua Edsel in una
scultura astratta, quindi Jim si dirige alla ricerca di un nuovo veicolo di basso costo.
Entrato in un concessionario di alta gamma, dopo aver adocchiato la bella assistente
Carole, viene rapidamente messo alla porta dall'arrogante proprietario Peter Thorndyke.
L'uomo, fuori di se dalla rabbia, prende a calci un Maggiolino bianco infiltratosi chissà
come nel salone. Jim prende le difese della macchina, solo per ritrovarsela sotto casa la
mattina dopo. Accusato di furto aggravato, riesce a trovare un accordo grazie a Carole e
acquista l'auto a rate.
