Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy è stato il primo album autobiografico che abbia mai realizzato, ed è stata la prima volta che siamo entrati in studio con tutte le canzoni già scritte. L'abbiamo provato come band, poi siamo entrati e l'abbiamo registrato praticamente dal vivo. La band era al suo apice assoluto e lo si può sentire sul disco.
