John Ford fonde blues prebellici, country old school e gospel del sud, traendo ispirazione da Robert Johnson, Son House e dalla musica country degli anni '40 per creare il suo sound basato sulle radici.
Candidato al CEA (Cincinnati Entertainment Award) del 2015, Ford si è esibito in Mississippi, St. Louis, Chicago e Indianapolis, suonando in locali iconici come The Shack Up Inn, BB's Jazz, Blues & Soups e The Slippery Noodle Inn. Ha anche aperto concerti di grandi del blues come Cedric Burnside, Patrick Sweaney, Damon Fowler e Ruthie Foster.
