Uno dei più affascinanti ed enigmatici - se non il più riuscito - cantante / cantautori della fine degli anni '60, Leonard Cohen ha mantenuto un pubblico attraverso sei decenni di produzione musicale, interrotto da varie digressioni nell'esplorazione personale e creativa, che si sono aggiunte solo alla mistica che lo circonda. Secondo solo a Bob Dylan (e forse Paul Simon), comandò l'attenzione della critica e dei musicisti più giovani più saldamente di qualsiasi altra figura musicale degli anni '60 che continuò a lavorare nel XXI secolo, il che è ancora più notevole un risultato per qualcuno che non aspirava nemmeno a una carriera musicale fino a quando non aveva trent'anni.
