Christine Brown è un'ambiziosa impiegata bancaria fidanzata con il giovane e affascinante Clay Dalton. La sua vita è felice fino al giono in cui la misteriosa Mrs. Ganush arriva alla banca implorando un'estensione dell'ipoteca sulla sua casa. Christine è combattuta tra l'impulso che la spinge ad aiutare la povera donna dell'Est e il desiderio di impressionare il suo capo per ottenere una promozione e alla fine nega l'estensione alla donna.
