All'indomani di un disastro nucleare, Leonora, Jacob e la figlia Alice lottano per la sopravvivenza. Un giorno, vengono come altri sopravvissuti invitati da un hotel a partecipare a uno spettacolo teatrale di beneficenza, con incluso il pasto. Senza molta altra scelta, i tre decidono di accettare l'invito e di recarsi in albergo, dove il regista Mathias presenta l'intero hotel come palcoscenico del suo spettacolo. Agli ospiti vengono fornite delle maschere per distinguerli dagli attori ma ben presto la situazione prende una piega inquietante: il pubblico comincia a scomparire e i confini tra realtà e recitazione si fanno sempre più labili.
