[da Wikipedia] Gli Explosions In The Sky sono una band americana che compone musica di genere post-rock (forse se vi dico il nome della band Sigur Ros capite di cosa si tratta), genere caratterizzato dall'uso non del tutto convenzionale che si fa dei tipici strumenti rock quali batteria, chitarra elettrica, basso.
Il gruppo nasce su iniziativa di 4 giovani nel 1999, inizialmente col nome di Breaker Morant, per poi cambiare in seguito a un commento del "capo" Chris Hrasky riguardo al rumore dei fuochi d'artificio che esplodevano nel cielo durante una festa universitaria. Sono diventati popolari grazie ai virtuosismi che sono soliti esibire con le chitarre elettriche (usate da 3 dei 5 componenti della band) che riescono a creare un'atmosfera quasi catartica, e dunque molto emotiva; le loro canzoni sono principalmente strumentali, utilizzano le voci raramente e più che altro emettendo suoni che accompagnano le note degli strumenti.
