Tanto per il grande pubblico quanto per i suoi numerosissimi fan, Harvest di Neil Young rappresenta l'apice della sua ricca discografia degli anni Settanta. Fondata su country-rock e folk malinconico, la cosiddetta arte di Loner risplende sempre brillantemente in questo quarto album, pubblicato nel febbraio 1972. È una miniera d'oro piena di gemme bucoliche e pastorali, registrata con un nuovo gruppo di brillanti musicisti chiamato gli Stray Gators, con Ben Keith alla steel guitar, Kenny Buttrey alla batteria, Tim Drummond al basso, e il grande Jack Nitzsche al piano e all'arrangiamento.
