Ottimo esempio di intrattenimento medio realizzato con gusto e leggerezza tipici del buon cinema americano e primo grande successo commerciale di Ron Howard. Splash si segnala per una sceneggiatura garbata e divertente, una regia piena di brio e ricca di ritmo e un cast perfetto che annovera ottimi primi attori e buoni caratteristi. Ottimo per una serata disimpegnata.
Excellent example of average entertainment made with taste and lightness typical of good American cinema and Ron Howard's first major commercial success. Splash is notable for a gracious and entertaining screenplay, a direction full of panache and full of rhythm and a perfect cast that includes excellent leading actors and good character actors. Great for a casual evening.

Allen cade da una barca e finisce in mare. Non sa nuotare, ma una bellissima ragazza lo porta a riva per poi scomparire. La ragazza è una sirena ed è proprio lei l'oggetto delle ricerche dello scienziato Walter Kornbluth che riesce pure a vederla per un attimo sott'acqua.
Allen Bauer is rescued from drowning as a young boy off Cape Cod by a young mermaid. Years later, he returns to the same location, and once again manages to fall into the sea, and is rescued once more by the mermaid (Allen isn't sure what he has seen and what he has imagined).
