Se Dream of the Blue Turtles è stato un affare sfacciatamente pretenzioso, sembra decisamente spensierato rispetto al secondo lavoro di Sting, Nothing Like the Sun, uno degli album pop più ostinatamente seri mai registrati. Questo è un album in cui l'unica traccia ritmata, l'unica sciocchezza "We'll Be Together" è stata aggiunta su insistenza dell'etichetta perché credevano che non ci fosse un taglio nel disco che potesse essere tirato come un singolo, uno che sfonda le porte alla radio mainstream. E avevano ragione, dal momento che tutto il resto qui è troppo misurato, calmo e deliberatamente sottile per essere immediato (incluso l'usa e getta intenzionale, "Rock Steady".
