Schoedsack, regista già celebre grazie al successo planetario riscosso da King Kong sette anni prima, sviluppa la storia del film su una traccia simile, con una spedizione nella giungla a scopo scientifico. Inoltre, come in King Kong, il film comprende scenografie elaborate ed effetti speciali all'avanguardia per l'epoca. La pellicola è il primo vero film americano di fantascienza realizzato in Technicolor.
Dr. Cyclops is a 1940 film directed by Ernest B. Schoedsack.
Schoedsack, a director already famous thanks to the worldwide success enjoyed by King Kong seven years earlier, develops the story of the film on a similar track, with an expedition into the jungle for scientific purposes. Also, as in King Kong, the film includes elaborate sets and special effects that were state-of-the-art for the time. The film is the first true American science fiction film made in Technicolor
