A Parigi Ollio soffre nervosamente di pene d'amore per Giorgetta, la figlia del padrone dell'albergo in cui loro sono andati, la quale però gli confessa di essere già sposata. Ollio, sopraffatto da una rabbia tremenda, tenta il suicidio nella Senna non senza Stanlio dicendogli che vorrebbe reincarnarsi in un cavallo; mentre cercano il modo di gettarsi nel fiume incontrano un misterioso uomo (il quale poi si rivela Francesco, marito di Giorgetta) che gli consiglia di arruolarsi nella legione straniera per consentire ad Ollio di dimenticare Giorgetta ed evitare un gesto osceno....
