Joni Mitchell ha vissuto il suo momento di svolta 50 anni fa. Dopo aver pubblicato quattro album acclamati dalla critica con Reprise Records, incluso il suo capolavoro del 1971 Blue, ha lasciato l’etichetta per unirsi all’Asylum Records nel 1972. Durante i seguenti sette anni, la Mitchell ha registrato alcuni dei pezzi musicali più acclamati della sua carriera cambiando direzione musicale, ovvero aggiungendo elementi jazz al suo cantautorato. L’evoluzione è culminata nel 1979 con la sua collaborazione con il titano del jazz Charles Mingus, ed il suo album in studio per Asylum. Rhino esplora l’inizio di quella prolifica era con THE ASYLUM ALBUMS (1972-1975), il nuovo episodio della serie Joni Mitchell Archives. La raccolta contiene le versioni nuovamente rimasterizzate di For The Roses (1972), Court And Spark (1974), il doppio album live Miles Of Aisles (1974) e The Hissing Of Summer Lawns (1975). Tutti quattro recentemente rimasterizzati da Bernie Grundman. THE ASYLUM ALBUMS (1972-1975) saranno disponibili dal 23 settembre in 4CD e 5LP, oltre che in digitale. La copertina di THE ASYLUM ALBUMS (1972-1975) contiene un dipinto inedito della Mitchell. Il cofanetto include inoltre un saggio dall’amico e concittadino Neil Young.
