Ecco di nuovo i ragazzi di Chicago che hanno riportato Miles con The Man With The Horn. Robert Irving III alle tastiere ha assunto il ruolo che Miles aveva assunto con un vero senso dell'armonia e solo una rudimentale padronanza di suoni e movimenti sintetici. Irving ha condiviso le responsabilità della regia con il nipote del trombettista Vince Wilburn, Jr., ma Al Foster ha continuato a guidare il ritmo. John Scofield ha disegnato il funk del bassista Darryl Jones nella direzione dell'astrazione cromatica.
