Baywatch, film diretto da Seth Gordon, segue le vicende di un’affiatata squadra di bagnini sulle lunghe spiagge di Emerald Bay, in Florida. Alla guida del gruppo c’è il tenente Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne Johnson), insieme alle due fedeli colleghe Stephanie Holden (Ilfenesh Hadera) e C.J. Parker (Kelly Rohrbach). Lo staff, però, non è completo: dopo un’accurata selezione, i tre posti mancanti vengono occupati da Matt Brody (Zac Efron), spocchioso ex campione di nuoto, Summer Quinn (Alexandra Daddario), bellissima e intelligente, e Ronnie (Jon Bass), un impacciato esperto di informatica, innamorato segretamente di C.J. A turbare la serenità di Emerald Bay è l’arrivo in città di Victoria Leeds (Priyanka Chopra), nuova proprietaria dell’Huntley Club, sospettata del traffico di una droga molto pericolosa chiamata "Flakka".
Mentre la squadra di Baywatch deve fronteggiare le tipiche difficoltà di inserimento dei nuovi elementi, spunta sulle spiagge un cadavere, probabilmente legato alla nuova sostanza stupefacente in circolazione. I bagnini cominciano subito a indagare, interferendo spesso anche con le indagini della polizia e trascurando il loro lavoro di guardaspiaggia. Quando il capitano Thorpe (Rob Huebel) scopre che non era presente alcun bagnino alla torretta di guardia la mattina in cui viene ritrovato un secondo cadavere, decide di licenziare Mitch e di passare il comando a Brody. Tuttavia, gli omicidi non si fermano e la spietata Victoria, per ottenere a tutti i costi la proprietà terriera di tutta la spiaggia, intende eliminare chiunque la ostacoli. Decide così di uccidere l'assessore Chun durante una festa organizzata sul suo yacht. Ma la squadra di Baywatch ha intuito il piano escogitato dalla perfida Leeds e le darà del filo da torcere…
