TRAMA
A trent'anni dal loro ultimo incontro, Marianne fa visita all'ex marito Johan. Il figlio di Johan, Henrik, è morbosamente legato a sua figlia Karin, giovane e promettente violoncellista.

CRITICA

QUOTE:

Tornato a 85 anni dietro la macchina da presa (anche se digitale e con un film per la tv) e riprendendo i due protagonisti di "Scene di un matrimonio", Bergman costruisce una specie di summa del proprio pensiero sulla vita e sull'arte.
Scandito in dieci parti, piu' un prologo e un epilogo, il film (sceneggiato dallo stesso regista) scava nei rapporti interpresonali con una durezza senza speranza: l'egoismo dei vecchi diventa rifiuto della paternita' e delle sue responsaiblita', quello dei giovani si trasforma in un amore cosi' soffocante da sfiorare l'incesto.
Con una lucidita' inusitata, Bergman vede l'ossessivita' insita in ogni rapporto familiare, ma anche i limiti dell'attivita' artistica che spesso finisce per trasformarsi in una specie di vampirismo.
