Runaway (il titolo allude al robot sfuggito al controllo, come un cavallo al fantino), film diretto nel 1984 da Michael Crichton, aggiornava un’idea già sviluppata dodici anni prima dallo stesso scrittore e regista nell’avanguardistico II mondo dei robot (il nostro approfondimento); là si raccontava di gente disposta a pagare mille dollari al giorno per una vacanza in una specie di super-Disneyland chiamata Delos dove si potevano vivere avventure ‘reali’ nel mondo romano, nel Medioevo e nel Far West; qui si va addirittura oltre, ipotizzando una società già robotizzata a tutti i livelli.
